Mekkanika is a mind-blowing experimental typeface by Italian designer Riccardo Sabatini based on the Din Alternate Black font. Sabatini scanned hundreds of mechanical technical drawings and used the component pieces to create each intricate letterform, leaving no letter, number, Autobot or Decepticon logo unfinished. Take a deep dive through this epic project on Behance.
I love the simplistic background. It compliments the chaos inside of the numbers/letters. I believe that the colors are appropriate as a set; no color is inappropriately brighter or more dull than the others. The neutral typeface and logo ease the eye from the load of information happening with the technical drawings inside of the numbers/letters.
Also, though drop shadows are normally frowned upon, the drop shadow here is appreciated. It separates the hectic drawings from the background, making it easier on the eye. No space is wasted here, and everything has a purpose.
Nice type, mister Riccardo Sabatini!
I don’t even know where to start with Luke Bott. His work is so top-notch. Honestly, I’m surprised that I haven’t posted his work before. Though his work is bright and fun, he still achieves maturity. It’s clear that this guy is seasoned. Keep up the terrific work. Luke is currently designing and art directing at Gardner in Wichita, Kansas.
